Join us on a spectacular nature and culture tour along the historical waterways of Sala.
Experience Sala’s beautiful nature as well as its ancient mining history. Enjoy a day paddling with a guide through the great waterways which once was an indispensable part of Sala’s old silver production. We will navigate through jungle-like canals and open lakes surrounded by forests and old cottages. You get to experience the beautiful nature of central Sweden as well as the ingenuity and hard work of the folks who created these amazing waterways way back in the 1500s.
During the tour we will go ashore at a beautiful spot in the woods for a wilderness lunch prepared over an open fire. Will also enjoy freshly brewed coffee over the fire with some traditional Swedish “fika”.
Good to know:
The canoe tour will be followed through in all weathers, and will only be cancelled in the event of very heavy wind or thunder – in which case the tour will be repaid in full. This is an full-day-adventure which requires certain physical conditions. We paddle at a leisurely pace and the tour amounts to 4 hours of paddling (with several breaks). No previous paddling experience is required as the guide will teach you the basics paddling techniques. We will have to lift and carry the canoes for a few metres on two occasions. Recommended minimum age is 12 years.
